Now Available: Live Manifests for Permanent Rooms

May 14, 2025

A share-able manifest URL in the 'Share' dropdown dialog

liiive just got a small update that makes it easier to share your annotation sessions through other tools in the IIIF ecosystem: every permanent room now publishes a IIIF v3 manifest at a stable, live URL.

That means you can view your room in external viewers—like Theseus, Universal Viewer, or Mirador—without the hassle of manually downloading the manifest or hosting it yourself. Just open this manifest URL with the viewer of your choice:

https://liiive.now/{room-id}/manifest

If you use liiive as part of a toolchain—maybe to prepare a digital edition, archive annotation data, or analyze your collaborative sessions with a Python script—this will make things much simpler.

A Quick Reminder About Permanent Rooms

This feature is available for permanent rooms only, since temporary rooms expire and don’t retain data. If you haven’t used them yet: you can switch a room to permanent from your dashboard (you’ll need to be logged in to access it).

Just click the settings (cog) icon and select “Permanent storage” from the dropdown. Every liiive user gets one permanent room for free, and liiive PRO lets you maintain up to 50 at once. You can switch rooms back and forth as needed.

As always, liiive is in active development, and your feedback helps shape what comes next. Got thoughts or ideas? Give me a shout via the community forum!
